Privacy Policy
Bavi Legal Services Professional Corporation is committed to protecting your personal information and handling it responsibly. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used and protected.
Effective date: June 3, 2026 | Applies to: bavilegal.ca
1. Who We Are
Bavi Legal Services Professional Corporation ("Bavi Legal", "we", "us", "our") is a licensed paralegal firm regulated by the Law Society of Ontario, with offices at 303-1585 Markham Rd, Scarborough, Ontario M1B 2W1. We are responsible for the personal information we collect through this website and are subject to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information in two ways: information you provide directly, and information collected automatically when you visit the site.
Information you provide directly
When you submit the contact form, we collect:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Phone number (optional)
- The type of legal service you are inquiring about
- The content of your message
Information collected automatically
When you visit bavilegal.ca, our hosting server and Google Analytics automatically collect certain technical information, including:
- Your IP address (anonymized by Google Analytics before storage)
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Referring website or search engine
- Date and time of your visit
3. How We Use Your Information
- Contact form submissions — to respond to your inquiry, assess whether your matter falls within our authorized scope, and arrange a consultation if appropriate.
- Analytics data — to understand how visitors use the site, which pages are most visited, and where improvements can be made. We do not use analytics data to identify individual users.
- Session data — to protect the security of the contact form against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. This is a strictly necessary function and does not involve tracking.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
This website uses the following cookies:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID | Bavi Legal (server) | Strictly necessary. Maintains a secure session for CSRF protection on the contact form. No personal data is stored in this cookie. | Session — deleted when you close your browser |
_ga | Google Analytics | Registers a unique identifier to generate statistical data on how you use the site. | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics | Registers a unique identifier used to generate statistical data on how you use the site. | 24 hours |
_gat | Google Analytics | Used to throttle the rate of requests to Google's servers. | 1 minute |
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site or contact us. Disabling the session cookie (PHPSESSID) may prevent the contact form from functioning correctly.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about how visitors use the site. This information is transmitted to and stored on Google's servers, which may be located outside Canada, including in the United States.
Google Analytics is configured to anonymize IP addresses before they are stored. This means your full IP address is not retained by Google in connection with your visit to this site.
Google's collection and use of analytics data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We have entered into a data processing agreement with Google as required for lawful use of Google Analytics.
6. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Google Analytics — anonymized site usage data is transmitted to Google as described in Section 5.
- Hosting provider — our website hosting provider processes technical data (such as IP addresses in server logs) as part of normal hosting operations. This data is subject to their own privacy policy and data processing terms.
- Legal obligations — we may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or at the request of a regulatory authority, including the Law Society of Ontario.
7. Data Retention
- Contact form submissions — retained for as long as necessary to manage the inquiry and any follow-up communications. Inquiries that do not result in a retainer are deleted once the matter is resolved or after a reasonable period of inactivity.
- Google Analytics data — retained according to the data retention settings configured in our Google Analytics account. User-level data is subject to Google's standard retention periods.
- Session cookies — expire at the end of your browser session and are not retained on our servers beyond the duration of that session.
- Server logs — retained for a limited period by our hosting provider for security and operational purposes, in accordance with their standard data retention practices.
8. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal information
- Withdraw consent to the collection or use of your personal information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your privacy rights have been violated
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11 below. We will respond to access and correction requests within 30 days. In some cases, we may be unable to fulfill a request — for example, where doing so would compromise the privacy of another individual or where we are required by law to retain the information.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include encrypted HTTPS connections, database security controls, and form security protections. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Paralegal-Client Confidentiality
Submitting a contact form or sending an email does not create a paralegal-client relationship and does not give rise to paralegal-client confidentiality. Information you share through this website before a retainer agreement is signed is not protected by paralegal-client privilege.
We nonetheless treat all inquiries with discretion. We recommend that you avoid sharing highly sensitive personal details in an initial inquiry. Once a retainer is in place, communications will be subject to the professional confidentiality obligations under the Paralegal Rules of Professional Conduct.
11. Links to Other Websites
This website may contain links to external websites, including court resources, government portals, and Google services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external site you visit.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of the page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the website after a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
